Flight Attendant Jobs – Open House Interviews
UPDATE: On December 27, 2020, President Trump signed the Covid Relief and Government Funding Bill which provides much needed aid to the airlines, along with many other provisions. According to a press release by the Association of Flight Attendants the bill includes the following:
The full bill includes $15 Billion for our Payroll Support Program (PSP), along with other provisions for Flight Attendants and our families:
- Recalls everyone with no interruption to seniority – all rights and protections from Oct 1 as if never furloughed.
- Ensures pay and benefits December 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021 with no furloughs, no reduction to hourly rates.
- Restores service to communities and supports vaccine distribution.
- Extends the cap on executive compensation and ban on stock buybacks.
- $600 direct payment to Americans who earned up to $75,000 in 2019 ($1,200 for couples making up to $150,000 in 2019). $600 per child with no cap on # of children/dependents.
- The size of the benefit would be reduced for those earning more than $75,000, or $150,000 per married couple. The amount will decrease by $5 for every $100 of income above those thresholds, phasing out entirely at $87,000 for individuals and $174,000 for couples.
- Unemployment Insurance is $300 a week on top of state UI levels.
- 11 weeks of UI extended for the long-term unemployed
- There is much more in the full bill including banning evictions, aid for our schools and public services and support for mass transit. Much more will be needed for a full recovery in the New Year. Read the entire press release.
AirlineCareer.com has been providing flight attendant hiring information to our website visitors and email subscribers since 1998. We have continued to disseminate information pertaining to cyclical airline hiring through good times and bad. We weathered airline downturns and airline bankruptcies and the complete commercial airline shutdown after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. During these difficult times, we have continued advising our readership about the furloughs, airline shutdowns and the eventual strong rebound in the years that followed.
We receive emails every day asking if we have any updates on when airlines will hire again. Although we don’t have the answer to that question, we do know that airlines will eventually recover and hiring will resume where it left off. When the doors do reopen, we feel it is important for our readership to be aware of when that will happen. This is the reason we are continuing our updates, although they will not be as frequent as in the past. The COVID-19 pandemic is a crisis that we are all sharing together. We will overcome it and there will be life after it is over.
Although there is currently no hiring, we feel that now is the perfect opportunity to prepare yourself any way you can before hiring resumes. The AirlineCareer.com website offers many of the resources available to prepare for future hiring, including a resume builder, blog articles on a variety of topics relating to a flight attendant career, free interactive testing to prepare you for new-hire training and flight attendant career books that will help you ace your flight attendant interview.
We will post updates as we receive them. Please check the individual airline websites for the latest hiring information. This flight attendant jobs update is posted frequently, so be sure to visit the AirlineCareer.com Blog often! And please don’t forget to pass this free update along to your friends by clicking on the share buttons.
